Senior Design Architect

NSA Architecture is searching for a Senior Design Architect to join its growing team.

Major Responsibilities
    • Assist in the creation and development of design concepts and presentations for projects.
    • Maintain conformance with building standards, established architectural practices, and applicable building codes.
    • Coordinate design initiatives with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines.
    • Create 3D Architectural Design models for design expressions.
    • Develop design deliverables and presentation exhibits for clients and owners.
  • Licensed Architect with Bachelor’s Degree in architecture from an accredited architectural learning institution.
  • 10+ years of experience required in an architectural or interior design firm.
  • Exceptional graphic presentation skills with high technical proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Sketchup programs.
  • An understanding of programming, space planning, exterior/interior design and knowledge of production practices to develop technical drawings and models.

Project Architect/Project Manager

A Project Architect/Project Manager is a licensed professional with responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Your job is to leverage your industry experience/technical acumen and lead a team of architects and designers to deliver exceptional service and exceed client expectations on projects from concept through build.

A Project Architect/Project Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, managing and oversight of multiple projects and project types. Other responsibilities include; managing technical staff, assigning and scheduling staff for projects, guiding and oversight of interdisciplinary project teams, participating in the development of scope and design projects, assist with project budget and schedule management, participating in day-to-day operations and resolving issues during design and construction, reviewing and writing reports, enforcing policies, assist in scheduling and chairing coordination and progress meetings, assist in the development of standards and procedural guidelines, ability to supervise assigned architects, field staff and /or engineers.

Major Responsibilities
  • Organizes the work efforts of NSA’s project team(s) on a day-to-day basis and functions as the primary facilitator of communication with the client and other members of the project team.
  • Recognizes the qualitative goals set forth for each project and works toward achieving these goals while balancing design, technical and business objectives.
  • Assist in establishing detailed work plans to meet project milestones and continually monitors progress. Monitors the time spent by staff at all levels during all project phases and modifies the project work plan to conform with the fee, budget and schedule, or takes other action to correct situations where tasks extend beyond the project fee, budget and/or schedule.
  • Preparation of drawings, studies, specifications, models and other project tasks.
  • Actively monitor progress, identifies issues for resolution, develops strategies for presentation to client, informs Principal in Charge and / or related discipline leader of issues and recommended course of action.
  • Initiates the development of design solutions and details, checks the work of junior team members, and coordinates work with others on the project team and with outside project consultants, documenting the outcome.
  • When applicable, supervises NSA’s project team(s) and subcontractors during the construction phase of the project and attends progress review meetings in accordance with the Owner / Architect agreement. Reviews all change-order proposals with Principal in Charge and certifies to Owner.
  • Researches and promotes opportunities for new or innovative work system applications. Actively looks for and implements techniques to improve quality of work and efficiency.
  • Confers with client representatives and outside consultants on a continual basis throughout the project and communicates decisions and actions effectively to the project team documenting the outcome.
  • Responsible for overseeing and/or directly performing the development of the design and production of construction documents for projects.
  • Interpret and apply building codes, energy codes, and requirements of regulatory agencies.
  • Evaluate building design using sustainable design principles.
  • Apply accessibility codes, applicable building codes, and life-safety codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity
  • Conducts quality control review and coordinates between all disciplines including: civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.
  • Participate/manage in client project requirement meetings.
  • Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges.
  • Lead project coordination and site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.
  • Assists in establishing project budget, schedule and overall work planning.
  • Ensures that work conforms to project budget, schedule, and overall work planning.
  • Conduct field observation and report progress of construction.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, prepare site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.
  • 8 + years’ experience and proficient in Autodesk Revit/AutoCAD.
  • Degree in support of an Architectural license required (accredited Master’s degree or 5 year Bachelor’s degree).
  • Architectural license is required; ability to meet NCARB requirements for licensure in other states required.
  • LEED Green Associate Accreditation or LEED AP preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills/ability to communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.

Architectural Associate

NSA Architecture is searching for a Architectural Associate to join its growing team.

Major Responsibilities
    • Use AutoCAD REVIT software.
    • Communicate and work closely with the Project Architect in receiving and understanding drawing mark-ups. Be proactive in seeking out and obtaining direction and clarification as needed.
    • Coordinate drawing setup and design development with peers in other disciplines.
    • Plan work most efficiently, to enable working effectively on multiple projects when necessary.
    • Provide support to other projects when necessary.
    • Consistently implement NSA standards on all projects.
    • Review all documents for accuracy and completion of work prior to delivery to the Project Architect.
    • Perform duties as assigned by the Project Architect of your assigned project team in a timely manner.
    • Assist the Project Architect in preparing the construction documents; develop sheet layouts, coordination with MEP.
    • Assist/assemble and issue project documents for SD, DD, CD, Bids and Construction as directed by the Project Architect. Plot final drawings as directed.
    • Perform Field Surveys when required and directed by the Project Architect or Project Manager.
    • Assist with project closeout.
    • Take ownership of your project, and assist other team members, when needed, to help ensure a successful project.
  • College level education in Architecture or specialized AutoCAD training.
  • Active involvement in the field of Architecture.
  • Preferred experience in AutoCAD, REVIT, and Photoshop.

Senior Project Architect

NSA is searching for a Senior Project Architect to join its growing team.

Major Responsibilities
  • Responsible for overseeing and/or directly performing the development of the design and production of construction documents for projects.
  • Conducts quality control review and discipline coordination.
  • Assist with Specification development.
  • Provide oversight and monitoring of work performed by junior and mid-level staff.
  • 5 + years’ experience proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Sketch Up.
  • Licensed Architect preferred.
  • LEED AP preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and handle multiple project assignments.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Architectural Field Representative

The Architectural Field Representative is responsible for the A/E site leadership of the construction project. This includes the coordination of NSA project team, CM/GC, numerous vendors including subcontractors, inspectors. Architectural Field Reps have the overall responsibility for monitoring the quality and scope of work as compared to the contract documents. In addition, they have an obligation to monitor project costs and schedules as provided by the contractor as compared to the owner’s budget. They must thoroughly understand the Contract Documents including the Owner/Contractor contract, the subcontract agreements, all addenda, plans, and specifications. This role includes communicating and collaborating with NSA, Owners/Client, Development, and Construction team.

Candidates should be able to accurately read and comprehend construction plans; keep accurate and complete records documenting daily construction activities, have strong time management and organizational skills, able to observe significant, multiple, and simultaneous construction projects, strong mathematical aptitude and able to verify and check contract quantities/costs as related to contractor pay applications, able to scale and measure distances accurately, attention to detail, work well under pressure, and have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Physical demands that are essential functions of the job include, but not limited to, frequently standing or driving multiple hours at a time, work in adverse weather conditions, and occasionally required to site, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Additional demands include ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The noise level of the work environment usually on a project or construction site is often loud.

Major Responsibilities
  • Be a Leader – Make a Difference – Take Ownership! Responsible for all on-site management and coordination of your project with respect to quality, schedule, cost and efficiency.
  • Document Review. Understanding of contract documents for project scope, schedule, phasing, temp. utilities, testing and inspections, etc.
  • Project Scheduling. Work with key project team members to manage CPM schedule for the project. Weekly monitoring of construction and submittal progress to identify impacts to the planned schedule.
  • Coordination Meetings. Hold weekly subcontractor Monday morning meetings to coordinate and review work planned for the week; distribute multi-week Look-Ahead Schedule. Hold “Pre-Installation” meetings with each subcontractor before starting each new trade/phase of work.
  • Quality Control. Inspect work for compliance with contract documents to ensure top rate workmanship. Provide documentation and notification of non-conforming work to the subcontractor, architect and owner.
  • Documentation. Prepare Field Reports, Meeting Minutes, maintain as-builts, etc.
  • Client Relations. Develop a solid, personal relationship with the Owner based on understanding & trust.
  • Daily communication with Project Manager to assist with review of submittals, schedule, inspections, sequence, manpower, problem solving, etc.
  • Lead in solution minded value engineering that balances the costs, full life cycle costs, schedule, maintenance, and initial development requirements.
  • Observe all aspects of the job including earthwork, utilities, concrete, roads & walks, framing, plumbing roughs, electrical roughs, HVAC roughs, insulation, drywall hanging, drywall finishing, lightweight concrete, exterior work, and work completed by the subcontractors, vendors and suppliers.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture/Construction-related field.
  • 5 to 10 years proven experience in automotive/manufacturing construction building.
  • Experience building and developing subcontractor relationships.
  • Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Project. Knowledge of various construction management software platforms a plus.
  • Broad, thorough understanding of construction industry.
  • Strong ability to read drawings and specifications; to interpret/coordinate intent; and to find/resolve conflicts in advance.

Architectural Engineering Computer Systems Administrator

An Architectural Engineering Computer Systems Administrator is a pro-active and effective collaborator in complex team environments. The position will require a solid working knowledge of design and construction documentation with a variety of building construction types as well as overseeing/administering the day-to-day technical activities related to maintaining a reliable & effective technical environment. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills are necessary.
